Privacy policy
This policy explains what data SeoSet.app collects when you run a free website check, leave your email or book a call, why we use it, who receives it and what rights you have. If anything is unclear, write to us: our contact details are below.
Who we are
SeoSet.app is a local SEO check for home service businesses and contractors in the United States. We are responsible for the data we collect on this site. In this document, “we” means SeoSet.app.
SeoSet.app
- support@seoset.app
What data we collect
We collect what you enter yourself and a minimum of technical data.
- Check details: the website address, the business name, the city or ZIP code, the state, and the service lines and services you choose. We use them to find the Google Maps profile of the business, the competitors nearby and competitor websites through web search.
- Email: if you ask us to email you a link to the result.
- Order details: if you pay for the report, the full audit or the ongoing service, we store the email, phone number and website address you enter at checkout, the service you chose, the amount, the order status and the Stripe payment identifiers. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Call details: your name, phone number and a convenient time. We receive them only if you book a call yourself, and the convenient time is optional.
- Marketing consent: a record of whether you agreed to receive tips and news about local SEO. The box is not ticked by default, and consent is optional.
- A hash of your IP address: we do not store the IP address itself, only a one-way hash of it (made with a secret salt). We use it to limit the number of checks from one address and to protect the site from abuse.
- Check results: our conclusion for each item and the parts of your website they are based on (for example, a page title). For the speed check we store our mobile speed score for your website (a number from 0 to 100), obtained through PageSpeed Insights, and our conclusion from it. For the comparison with competitor websites we store only our own numbers: how many websites we checked and how many of them have a page for a service.
- Google Maps data: from Google Places we store only the place ID (place_id) of your business and of the competitors, together with our conclusions. We request the name, rating, review count and other Google Maps data from Google again each time we show the page, and we do not store them.
- Technical records of failed checks and failed emails.
We never ask for or store the passwords of your websites or accounts. If you order paid work, you give access to your Google profile and website by invitation.
Why we need this data
- to run the check and show you the result;
- to email you a link to the result;
- to call you back about your request and talk about paid services;
- to take payment, open the paid report, deliver and confirm the paid service and contact you about your order;
- to send you tips and news about local SEO, only if you consented (every such email will let you unsubscribe);
- to limit the number of checks and to protect the forms from bots;
- to find and fix failures.
We do not use your data for advertising on other sites.
Who receives your data
We pass data only to the services without which the site would not work:
- Supabase: the database that holds check results, emails and requests.
- Vercel: hosting for the site and its server functions. It sees technical data about requests, including the IP address.
- Resend: sending emails. It receives the recipient address and the text of the email.
- Stripe: taking payments for the full report, the full audit and the ongoing service. Stripe receives the email, phone number and website address you enter at checkout and processes the card data. We never see or store card numbers.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: protection of the forms from bots. Cloudflare receives technical data about the browser and the IP address at the time of the check.
- Google (Places API and PageSpeed Insights): we send Google the address of your website (PageSpeed Insights) and the business name with the city or ZIP code (Places API) to find the profile and to measure the speed of the site.
- Brave Search and DataForSEO (web search): to find competitor websites we send them only a search phrase made of a service, the city or ZIP code and the state, for example “drain cleaning Portland, OR”. We do not send them the business name, your website address, contact details or your IP address.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Google's policy: Google Privacy Policy. Stripe's policy: Stripe Privacy Policy. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Google Maps data
We show the rating, review count, name and other data from Google Maps on the result page under Google's terms, and we label them “Google Maps”. The rules for using this data are in the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service. Google's privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy.
Your rights, including in California
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising based on your behavior across different sites (CCPA/CPRA).
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect about them and how we use it, to get a copy of it, to correct inaccurate data and to delete it. We will not treat you worse if you use these rights. You can also withdraw your marketing consent at any time.
To use these rights, write to support@seoset.app and give the email or phone number you left with us. To protect your data, we may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you. We will answer within the time the law sets (45 days, which can be extended by another 45 days if needed, in which case we will tell you).
How long we keep your data
We keep data no longer than we need it for the purposes above:
- check results: while they are needed to open the result by its link, to open the saved result when the same website is requested again with the same choice of service lines and services within 7 days, and to keep to the limit of no more than 3 new checks of one website per 7 days;
- email, name, phone number and requests: while we stay in touch with you or until you ask us to delete them;
- order details: while they are needed to deliver the service, to settle a payment or refund question and to keep the records we are required by law to keep;
- the hash of the IP address: together with the record of the check it belongs to;
- the mobile speed score: together with the check results;
- Google Maps data other than place_id: we do not store it;
- web search results and the addresses of competitor websites: we do not store them.
You can ask us to delete your data at any time. We will delete it, except for data we are required by law to keep.
Security
The site works over HTTPS, and only we and the services listed above can see requests and contact details. The result page opens by a long link with a unique number and is not indexed by search engines. Anyone who has this link can see the result, so do not forward it to people you do not want to show it to.
No method of storing or transmitting data is fully secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Children
The service is meant for business owners and not for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may change this policy. The new version appears on this page, and the date of the last update is shown at the top. If we start collecting new kinds of data, we will change the policy before we start collecting them.
